Winter Art

Winter is beautiful. Back when we were still contemplating the idea of living up here full time I had nightmares about winter driving, especially in the dark. That still terrifies me, but the good thing about not having a regular job is that you can stay home if conditions are bad. Looks like I will be getting some knitting and chores done over the next few days with snow in the forecast and a low of -18 degrees tonight. More snow on Friday and Saturday with winds gusting to 40 mph. Following are photos of some artistic looking winter scenes taken when it was “nice” outside.

Hello. I am a recently retired empty nester. My husband and I moved to Jewett Lake in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, after living most of our lives in the Minneapolis area. I have no trouble keeping busy with knitting and spinning of wool, selling yarn and handmade goods, reading, walking, watching movies, surfing on the internet, traveling, doing bookkeeping for our family cabin, and spending time with family.

  1. The photos are beautiful and expansive, but the ice skating shot makes me worried that your laces look loose! We have a frozen wonderland this winter too and we are in awe of the industriousness of a gorgeous bard owl who hunts our river watershed.

  2. Beautiful photos! No matter how uncomfortable it might be to go out, nature is always beautiful.

I know what you mean about driving in snowy weather, too! One of the reasons I’m seeking alternatives to the delivery job.

So today I asked her how she enjoyed the last 4 and she said I haven’t gotten any since I signed up!

    Need help. Love Barbara
